About 8 years to be exact. A very busy life got in the way. There has been so many changes in the world of blogging and in my life. I now have lots more time and fully anticipate adding more to this blog. First I just have to learn to my way around in this much newer and hopefully better version of blogger, which was Blogspot. I have also wondered about creating a full website, but wonder if it will cut into the amount of personal space/mb that google allows. But for now and maybe forever I am back on here blogging.

Sharron Lynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475770707667714608noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21419236.post-77254683039944829332012-05-20T11:44:00.000-07:002012-05-20T13:31:13.957-07:00Chris and SabrinaLife is back to normal in our household.

My first Christmas card for 2011 was made for a Christmas in July card swap. I just loved this double-sided Christmas paper by Graphic 45 from their Christmas Past Collection.

Both sides of the paper were used for the front of the card. Inside the card I used a vellumy like paper, that matched the green on the front perfectly. I embossed both ends of the green paper and when opened the card said 'Merry Christmas'. Unfortuneatly, I did not take a picture of the card opened. The ribbon was placed behind the green paper and threaded out the sides. The poinsettas are stamped and gold embossed on red and green vellum.

I love the layout of this card as both sides of the double sided paper are on the front of the card. This is one card layout that I will be using again. Hope you like it too. Thanks for looking.

Last fall when I was at Scrapfest in Oshawa, Lisa of Local Rubber King was demostrating her new die cuts that she had made to match her stamps. They are all awesome. It was all I could do to stop myself from buying everyone of them.

I had bought this stamp from Lisa the previous year, so I decided it was the first one I wanted the die cut for.

After watching Lisa demostrate how to use it, I went home and created these two cards. There are slightly different, but the basic design is the same. Both flowers and stamps were colored using one of my favorite colouring methods, using Tombos directly on the stamp. Thanks Lisa for showing me this great method of coloring and how to create the wonderful background. A great way to fill in all that white space.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to seeing Lisa at the next Scrapfest in Kitchener in the spring. Thanks for looking.Sharron Lynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475770707667714608noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21419236.post-39435144380639536082012-01-10T19:49:00.000-08:002012-01-10T20:35:47.215-08:00Just for fun

Sometimes a quick and easy card is needed. This is one of those. I have to admit though, sometimes quick and easy for me is harder than a card with a lot more detail.
It is now one of my favorite formats. It is a little different from the usual side or top opening quarter card. It has wings on either side that when spread apart slightly, help it to stand up. There is also an over lying flap on the front that opens to show the inner part of the card where a greeting/signature can be placed. One thing I learned in making this card is not to make the front too heavy, or the card will tip over and not be able to stand properly.

Paper for this card was from 'my paper stash'. The punch used was a MS all around the page punch and the butterfly is from the Garden Party set from Local King Rubber Stamps.

I gave this particular card to my mother for her birthday along with the explosion box (shown in an earlier post).

Thanks for dropping by and looking forward to hearing from you.
Our daughter turned 30. Do you remember when we were kids and we thought '30' was 'over the hill'! Needless to say I don't believe that anymore.

In honour of my daughter's changing decade, I made a special explosion box for her as well. Though I had a blast doing it, several evenings were spent looking for, reviewing and scanning all the pictures from her babyhood to grown up hood into the computer. The final step was thenprinting them to the size I wanted.

The paper I used was a set of co-ordinating papers (Ally's Wonderland) by SEI and was purchased purchased from a local LSS. I wanted paper that was bright and youthful, without being childish and could be used on various opposing pages as the colors were all the same, but just in different formats.

Looking back at my creation, there are a few things that I would have differently now, if I were making it now, but this was my first box and I can incorporate these new ideas into the next one I make. I am looking forward to making more boxes later this year as some other special celebrations will be taking place in our family.

Thanks for stopping by.

Please forgive my photography. I almost forgot to take pictures and as a result, when they were taken they were done on a clear glass table top and I slide a place mat underneath to stop the floor from showing through. Also, I never seem to get my pictures exactly where I want them to be in my posts. Any tips would be appreciated.
Some projects/cards from last year that didn't get posted on here or some Christmas cards that I worked on last month. As one hasn't been opend by the recipent yet, I decided to start off with some pojects/cards from the fall and lead up to Christmas. It should only take a few posts.

I've always been fascinated with the explosion boxes that I have seen on various blogs and after an evening's lesson, I decided to make one for my mom for her birthday. The paper I used was from Bo Bunny, the Welcome Home 6 x 6 pad. After the initial part of putting the box together, the pictures I added made the box her life history and a very special birthday gift. Thanks for looking and I look forward to reading your comments.
Since my last post in October, time has just flown by with preparations for Christmas. Even though my children aren't little anymore, there still seems to be a ton of stuff to do during this time of year.

My goal for 2012 is to better organized. I think I partially succeed with that goal last year with a lot more postings and I am going to try to do even better this year. With my middle son, Christopher getting married in the spring, life is going to be very busy for the next few months as wedding plans move ahead. I am looking forward to welcoming Sabrina into our family and have to tell you that she is a former scrapbooker and has recently had the opportunity to make a few cards.

So today while I have some time to myself (as the Rose Bowl parade is not on TV until tomorrow) I have designated today, the start of update my Blog Day. So here goes! I have cards to post, links to update, pictures to upload and more to add. Sharron Lynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475770707667714608noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21419236.post-65298802633851135242011-10-22T17:54:00.000-07:002011-10-22T18:06:55.801-07:00Lost, but not forgotten and happily foundI can't quite find the right words to express our happiness and excitement at visiting Angus' and George's wonderful cousin Linda and her family. For many years we only knew, that Linda was up north somewhere, but as George's family tree search developed, Linda was found. Not that she was ever lost, she was exactly where she had almost aways been. I will hazard a guess and say it has been about 50 years since the three cousins have seen each other.

We spent an awesome weekend visiting with Linda, and two of her daughters, Chantal and Chris and their husbands. It was fantastic hearing some of the old stories and making new ones. My only regret was that I hadn't brought any pictures of my kids with me and that the weekend had to end. Most importantly, we have found family and new friends and never plan on losing them again. I am really looking forward to our next visit.
Not having any baby stamps, I had to really think of something that I could do quickly, without spending a lot of time looking for baby stamps.

I had a lot of fun making this card. The paper for the background and the carriage were put through the cuttlebug. The words were done using a letter die cut from QuicKutz and a foam sheet from the dollar store. I could never get this die cut to cut properly, but since I purchased the metal sheet to use with my cuttlebug, the letters cut almost 100% better. The foam cut like butter and I will certainly use it again in another project. Thanks for dropping by.
B-Line and I combined it a light house scene stamp from Impression Obsession, to make this step card for my dad, for Father's Day.
Every once in awhile I like to hop across the border to another one of my favorite stamping stores, Buffalo Stamps. On my visit there last March, I bought this Mo Manning stamp, specifically to do an anniversary card for my sweet hubby and for a friend. As hubby is not so fond of bows and ribbons on his cards, I thought I could make him a cute, romantic card using this stamp without out all the 'extras'. In other words a 'masculine' card.

To make the card, I masked the moon off, brayered the sky and then sponged in the moon. Daisies have always been my favorite flower. They were my wedding bocquet. Over the years I have had a hard time growing them, but this year I finally have a few in my garden.
The daisy centres are done with flower soft and the daisy die cut is by Marianne. Thanks for looking.
So when doilies became a big hit on cards this past winter, I tried to use the ones in the dollar store on some cards, but they were either the wrong size or the wrong color. Then one day, I noticed that my favorite stamping store had a doily die cut by Cheery Lynn Designs, the same one I had been drooling over on the internet. Suffice it to say , that I am now the proud owner of that die cut.

This is my first attempt at using my new die cut. The stamp used in the centre of the doily, is a Hero Arts Cling stamp. The shine over the stamped image comes from little glass beads that were burnished onto Score-It paper placed over top the image.

So far, I have made a couple of other cards using my doily die cut and will be posting them shortly. I love metal and when Wendy (Stampin' Canada), posted about the new metal flower tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers, I decided to give it a try. The flowers were made using embossing folders, a Sizzix flower die cut, a Marianne flower die cut and a Sizzix die cut for the leaves.Sharron Lynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475770707667714608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21419236.post-46349704323183485212011-05-19T20:17:00.000-07:002012-01-03T19:41:23.194-08:00Vintage Birthday

Copper and chocolate brown just go together and look so rich (at least in my books). This is a card I made as part of a package of birthday cards for my mother. It's hard to tell from the picture but the flower is multi-layered. The background is done with a cuttlebug folder and the copper paper is book binding paper. Sorry, I forget the real name of the paper, but is metallic looking, cuts like butter and is awesome to work with. Thanks for dropping by.Sharron Lynnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03475770707667714608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21419236.post-71036296464350795522011-05-14T19:31:00.000-07:002012-01-03T19:43:15.094-08:00Another Step CardCan you tell I am in love with this type of card. Here is another one that I made. This is the second fairy or mystical card that I have made. I bought the fairy stamp from a store in London, Ontario at the recent Stampfest this spring in Kitchener. They had two fairy stamps (one a girl and one a little boy). I wish I had bought both of them, but I wasn't really sure how at the time how I was going to use the stamp. I had so much fun creating this card that I think a road trip to London (when the gas prices go down) is also in the cards.

The fibre behind the fairy is Angelina Fibre and the fairy is stamped on Fantasy Film. I had a hard time taking a picture of this card because of the reflection from the flash. I have posted 2 pictures to so you can see what I mean and the magic of the Fantasy Film.
I find the design of these cards, is a fantastic showcase that really highlights the image used.

This card turned out to be quite large, larger than I thought it was going to be, but I think my image fit perfectly on it. This is the first card I have done with this type of image and I am now anxious to do more. This fairy stamp set is one of a series of stamp sets that I purchased on a recent road trip to the States. I am kicking myself that I only bought the one and have since gone back for the other sets. As luck would have it, they were sold out. So another road trip is a necessity and the sooner the better. I would love to do a series of similar cards for each fairy in the series.
Step cards are my new favorite design. This one folds down to a regular quarter size card. The borders are done with a Fiskars punch and the lady is a die from Marianne. The cards are awesome and the technique is most definitely something that I will use often. I love the look of these cards and will be checking my stamps to see which ones I can use for this technique.
She handled it like a pro and stood still while she was shampooed and trimmed. She was and soft and white until her next romp in the snow.
I love that progam and it is awesome learning to create so many wonderful artistic endeavors with my pictures. I wanted to do some digital scrapbooking of the pictures I took of my husband last summer while we were on vacation, but I wanted it to be exciting too. So here is my husband a la Andy Warhol. This was my first attempt at using this technique and I am not going to stop here. As time goes on and I learn to do more with PSE I will be back to revisit this creation.
